Deep Mountains is a Chinese atmopsheric black metal band from the Shandong Province. They mix typical black metal with traditional chinese instruments to produce a pretty unique sound. Apparently, there are quite a few black metal acts that originate from the Shandong Province, the most popular of which is Zuriaake. They all seem to describe themselves as depressive/atmospheric black metal, or as blackgaze/post-black metal. A majority of the acts are on a label called Pest Productions. think I might have to do more research into this Chinese black metal scene; it’s quite different from anything like the Cascadian/USBM or Norwegian Black Metal scenes.
